Philips Jusario Vermonte

Born in Manila, the Philippines, 14 July 1972, Philips has been a prolific analyst on conflict and other political issues, and is a mind-provoking speaker in seminars. He is currently a researcher at the Department of International Relations, Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a Jakarta-based think tank. He was also a visiting lecturer at University of Indonesia and Paramadina University where he taught courses on, among other, peace studies and military in developing countries. He helped the establishment, and is a core member, of Interseksi Foundation in Jakarta.

He obtained his M.A (International Studies) degree from Department of Politics, University of Adelaide, Australia (2001). He is now a Fulbright Ph.D student at Political Science Department, Northern Illinois University, USA.

His recent publications include Philips J Vermonte (ed), Small is (not) beautiful: the problems of small arms in Southeast Asia (CSIS and the Japan Foundation, 2004, in English); Philips J Vermonte (ed), Conflict and election: a study of the 2004 general election in four conflict areas in Indonesia (The Interseksi Foundation, 2005, in Bahasa Indonesia).
